Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to commonly asked questions about Canadian Made DTF and our DTF printing services.
General Questions
DTF (Direct-to-Film) printing is a modern transfer method that creates vibrant, durable designs that can be heat-pressed onto virtually any fabric. The process involves printing designs onto a special film with water-based inks, applying a powdered adhesive, and then curing the transfers so they're ready to be applied to garments using a heat press.
DTF transfers work on a wide variety of fabrics including:
- Cotton
- Polyester
- Cotton/poly blends
- Nylon
- Silk
- Leather
- Denim
- CORDURA®
They even work well on difficult fabrics like moisture-wicking performance wear!
Our DTF transfers are extremely durable and designed to last. When properly applied, they can withstand 50+ washes without cracking, peeling or fading. The transfers are also stretch-resistant, making them perfect for activewear and other stretchy fabrics.

Application and Usage
Applying DTF transfers is easy with a heat press:
- Pre-heat your garment for 2-3 seconds to remove moisture
- Position your transfer on the garment (printed side up)
- Cover with a Teflon sheet or parchment paper
- Press at 320-330°F (160-165°C) with medium-high pressure for 15 seconds
- Remove the carrier film while hot (hot peel)
For detailed application instructions, please refer to the application guide included with your order.
For most fabrics, we recommend the following heat press settings:
- Temperature: 320-330°F (160-165°C)
- Time: 15 seconds
- Pressure: Medium-high
- Peel: Hot peel (immediately after pressing)
For heat-sensitive materials like nylon or polyester, reduce the temperature to 300°F (150°C) and increase the time to 20 seconds.
